Palmetto Beach developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s around four cigar factories. Palmetto Beach is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As one of Tampa’s oldest neighborhoods, it’s exciting to have Palmetto Beach be officially recognized an important part of Tampa’s history. The neighborhood has a rich culture, and grew up around the streetcar line and cigar factories.
